Merzouga Camel Trekking, a trip to the Sahara Desert Morocco is definitely an experience everyone should have at least once in their life. It is a journey well worth the effort and you will have fond memories to last you forever. Imagine yourself on top of a camel, trekking in the Sahara Desert. There is nothing around you and all you can hear are the footsteps of the camel on the soft sand. The sky is vast and clear in the day and filled with millions of bright stars at night. It is a very peaceful experience, one raley known to most of the Western world. The color of the dunes depends, of course, on their chemical composition, but the color also differs according to the inclination of the slope, so the angle of incidence of sunlight. Erg Chebbi extends over a distance of 28 km from north to south and 6.5 km to the east. The beauty of these dunes is a magnet for foreign tourists and Moroccans. This last objective of the Oasis to seek treatment for certain diseases such as rheumatism.

CAMEL TREKKING TO SPEND A NIGHT IN THE CAMP

When you arrive at Merzouga desert we will meet you at the meeting point, then we will take you to our hotel where you can park your car safely. The departure of camel trekking should be two hours before sunset, you should be prepared to spend the night in the camp (Berber tents in the middle of sand dunes, after crossing the highest sand dunes and over this adventure you will have lifetime experience from riding the camel, to enjoy the sunset and spending the night in Berber camp. Once you get to the camp you will be welcomed with a mint tea “Berber whiskey”, then the staff will show you your tent, at night after having your dinner, there will be a Berber team playing drums and singing Berber song surrounding the campfire under the sky full of stars.

In the morning, you have to get up for the sunrise and see a golden color on the sand dunes. After taking shower and having a Berber breakfast in this quiet area, your camel man will guide you to get back to the hotel where your car is parked.

MERZOUGA DESERT TOUR

We will explore the desert using the 4*4 car. You will have the opportunity to see the nomad families living in tents and discover their way of life. We will visit the ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians and to play with them their spiritual music. After that, we will drive 40 km to Rissani traditional town which was the origin of the ruling family in Morocco and the meeting place of the Caravans trading as far as Timbuktu in Mali. We will visit its traditional market. here will have the Berber Piza in lunch cooked in the traditional oven. After that return to the desert to enjoy again the sunset, and the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes.
