3 day Sahara tour
My sister connected me with Magic Sahara Tours because Moubarak had been such an amazing guide during her stay in Morocco. And, after my experience, I could not agree more. Within a day of her connecting us, Moubarak made time to meet with me and share recommendations for getting the most out of the time I had left in Morocco. He took the time to find out what I was interested in and personalize my trip. I chose to do a three-day desert trip from Marrakech to Fes because I only had a couple days. The trip was absolutely stunning. Day one, Moubarak picked me up in Marrakech at my hostel. We headed out to the High Atlas Mountains, where we stopped at Tizi n'Tichka pass. The mountains were covered in fresh snow fall making the view even more incredible. Our next stop was Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. Moubarak took me on a tour of the kasbahs full of details about the history and current culture of the area. After Ait Ben Haddou, we stopped in Ouarzazate to see Taourirt Kasbah and have lunch at a local restaurant. The final leg of the first day took us through Roses Valley, and along the Dades River/Gorges lined with kasbahs to our riad.Day two, we continued our drive through Dades Gorges. We stopped for a bit to get a clear view of Tinghir Oasis on the way to Todra Gorge. The walk through the gorge was spectacular. The massive rock walls towering above you are breathtaking. After Todra Gorge, we stopped in Rissani for an amazing, vegan friendly, Berber pizza. The afternoon ended with the drive from Rissani to Merzouga desert where we met up with Zaid, who drove me out to the camp. The camp in Merzouga is beautiful and welcoming. There are a lot of nice seating areas outside, and the rooms are very cozy. After a walk into the sand dunes to watch the sunset, I was served a delightful meal of many salads, breads, and veggie tajin. Later in the evening, there was local music around the fire and plenty of star gazing.Day three, started with a magnificent sunrise and breakfast at the camp. The drive from Merzouga to Fes was full of more fantastic landscapes as we made our way through Ziz Valley, Aoufous Oasis, Tizi n'Talghmut pass, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and cedar forests. Upon arriving in Fes, Moubarak made sure I got settled into my riad and knew where to get a taxi to the train station before he left. The accommodations throughout the trip were super nice and comfortable. The food was delicious, and everyone went out of their way to provide many options for a vegan diet. All of the guides and staff on the trip were very kind and professional. They made sure that I was happy and had everything I could possibly want for the duration of my trip. Despite being on a trip alone in a new place, I felt at home and was very well taken care of. One of the main highlights of the trip was how much I learned during the process. From start to finish, Moubarak shared detailed information about the culture, history, current events, language, agriculture and nature of every place along the way. I cannot recommend a tour with Magic Sahara Tours enough. It is a truly unforgettable experience.
